The concept by the Viennese architecture office COOP HIMMELB(L)AU has an intelligent combination of old and new in a sculptural form: the ensemble is formed from three basic elements: a 184-metre high-rise building of a twisted shape, a "groundscraper" and the wholesalemarket. The groundscraper contrasts with the verticality of the towers and interacts with the design of the wholesalemarket. The wholesalemarket serves as the ECB's main entrance and public area.
