Task of the competition for the University College of Dublin was the rearrangement and expansion of the existing campus. The new campus comprises project offices and laboratories for research, a cinema and movie institute as well as a hotel with student apartments. The area consists of 150.000 square meters.
The focus of the energy concept is on the importance to energy efficiency. Only renewable energy sources supply the campus so that no carbon dioxide emerges – “Zero-CO2” is the main focus of the energy concept. The building costs for the UCD project are estimated  around 450 million € and it is supposed to be completed in 2013.
